DP World Adds Weekly China Africa Link

DP World will start a weekly container service linking three Chinese ports with Dar es Salaam and Maputo in late November 2026.

DP World has announced the China Africa Link, a new weekly container service between the Far East and Africa. The service is run by DP World's Shipping Solutions business in the Africa, Middle East and Asia region and is scheduled to start in late November 2026. DP World has not yet published the first sailing date.

Port rotation

The announced rotation is Shanghai, Ningbo and Nansha in China, Port Klang Westport in Malaysia, Dar es Salaam in Tanzania and Maputo in Mozambique, then Singapore before returning to Shanghai. DP World did not give vessel sizes or transit times in the announcement.

According to DP World, cargo heading to Africa is expected to include machinery, electronics, construction materials and automotive parts. Return cargo is expected to include agricultural products, minerals and other commodities.

Ganesh Raj, Global COO of Marine Services at DP World, said customers want reliable connections and more choice when moving cargo between China and Africa.

The service connects to port projects DP World is already running in both African countries. The company cites a $165 million expansion of the Maputo container terminal, designed to more than double its handling capacity, and more than $500 million committed to modernising the Port of Dar es Salaam.

What shippers should check

  • Confirm the first sailing date and cut-off times once DP World publishes the schedule.
  • Ask for transit times to Dar es Salaam and Maputo before planning delivery dates.
  • Check whether your cargo type (for example machinery or out-of-gauge units) can be accepted on this service, as the announcement does not cover special equipment.
